Digital dental X-rays are an important diagnostic tool that help us see areas of the teeth and jaws that are not visible during a regular dental exam. They allow us to detect concerns such as cavities between teeth, infection, bone loss, impacted teeth, root problems, and changes that may not yet be causing symptoms.

X-rays are recommended based on each patient’s individual needs. Your age, dental history, cavity risk, gum health, symptoms, and the type of treatment being considered all help determine which images are appropriate and how often they should be taken.

For new patients, dental X-rays may be recommended to establish a baseline and help us fully evaluate your oral health. If recent X-rays from a previous dental office are available, we are happy to review them when appropriate.

Digital X-rays provide high-quality images with significantly reduced radiation compared with traditional film X-rays. The images can be viewed immediately, enlarged, and adjusted on a screen, which helps us explain our findings clearly and make more accurate treatment recommendations.
